What you can do with Image & PDF Scan Effect Generator
- Make photo look scanned
- Make a pdf look scanned
- Add document scan effect
- Convert pdf to scanned pdf
What this conversion does
Make JPG, PNG, BMP, or TIFF images and multi-page PDF documents look like they were physically scanned, with presets and fine-grained controls, and download the result as JPG pages or a PDF.
Example input
invoice.pdf (3 pages) with the Clean Scan preset
Example output
scanned_invoice.pdf — three slightly noisy, high-contrast pages that look photocopied
Practical workflow
- Drop up to 20 files — images (JPEG, PNG, BMP, TIFF) or PDFs; each PDF is processed up to its first 50 pages.
- Pick a preset: Clean Scan, Aged Document, Fax Quality, Carbon Copy, or Blueprint.
- Optionally open the advanced panel to adjust brightness, contrast, saturation, noise, blur, DPI (150–600), paper color, and ink color.
- Preview each page, then download a single file, the pages as images, everything as PDF, or Download All.
Common use cases
- Produce a signed-and-scanned looking copy of a contract or form you filled in digitally.
- Give a clean digital invoice or receipt a realistic paper-scan appearance before sending it.
- Create fax-style or aged-paper versions of a document for a presentation, mockup, or archive look.
Important notes and limitations
- PDF pages are rendered with pdf.js and rebuilt with pdf-lib inside your browser; nothing is uploaded.
- Output pages are images — there is no text layer and no OCR, so the result is not searchable or selectable.
- Very large pages are downscaled to a 4,000,000-pixel / 4096 px canvas limit before the effect is applied.
- TIFF decoding depends on your browser. Convert an unsupported TIFF to PNG or JPEG first. PDFs longer than 50 pages must be split if you need every page processed.
Continue your workflow
- PDF Tools — merge, split, or rearrange pages before or after applying the scan effect.
- Image Converter — convert the exported JPG pages to PNG or WebP.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make a PDF look scanned without a scanner?
Drop the PDF here, choose Clean Scan (or another preset), and download as PDF. Every page is rasterized, given paper texture, noise, and contrast adjustments, and reassembled into a new PDF in your browser.
Will the text in my PDF still be selectable?
No. The output pages are images, which is what a real scanner produces. Keep your original if you need searchable text.
What do the presets change?
Each preset sets brightness, contrast, saturation, noise, blur, DPI, and paper/ink colors. Fax Quality is greyscale with heavy contrast, Aged Document yellows the paper and softens the ink, Blueprint uses light-blue paper with dark-blue ink, and you can fine-tune any of them.
Is there a file or page limit?
Up to 20 files per batch and the first 50 pages of each PDF. Extremely large pages are downscaled to fit the browser canvas limits.
