Practical workflow

  1. Upload up to 20 files; PDFs and supported image files can share a batch. Each PDF is processed up to its first 50 pages.
  2. Pick a preset: Clean Scan, Aged Document, Fax Quality, Carbon Copy, or Blueprint, or fine-tune brightness, contrast, noise, blur, and DPI in Advanced mode.
  3. Press Apply Scan Effect and compare every page side by side with the original in the preview.
  4. Download the processed document back as a single PDF, or export individual pages as JPG images.

Important notes and limitations

  • The whole conversion runs locally in your browser; the PDF is never uploaded to a server.
  • Only the first 50 pages of each PDF are processed. Split a longer document into smaller PDFs beforehand if you need every page.
  • Output is flattened to image pages without OCR or selectable text. Keep the original for digital signatures, form fields, links, metadata, or searchable text.

How do I make a PDF look scanned without a scanner?

Upload the PDF, choose Clean Scan or another preset, and press Apply Scan Effect. The first 50 pages are rendered with the effect and can be downloaded together as an image-based PDF.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. Pages are rendered and processed entirely in your browser with pdf.js and the Canvas API. The document never leaves your device.

Does the scanned-look PDF keep all my pages?

It keeps the processed pages in their original order, up to the first 50 pages of each PDF. A longer document is not exported in full; split it before processing if all pages are required.

Can I control how strong the scan effect is?

Yes. Advanced mode exposes brightness, contrast, saturation, noise, blur, DPI, paper color, and ink color so you can dial in anything from a crisp office scan to a degraded fax.

Does the output support searching text or OCR?

No. The scanned-look PDF contains page images. It does not perform OCR or convert a scanned PDF to Word.
