About Image Converter
Convert images between formats (PNG, JPG, WEBP).
The tool is designed to process data in the browser unless the interface explicitly states that a network request is required.
How to use this tool
- Enter or select the image, photo, png value you want to work with.
- Review the available settings, then run the convert action.
- Review the png, jpg, webp output and use the copy or download action when the tool provides one.
What you can do with Image Converter
- Convert png to jpg
- Change image to webp
What this conversion does
Convert a PNG, JPEG, or WebP image to another of those formats in your browser, with an adjustable quality setting for JPEG and WebP.
Example input
logo.png (with transparency), target: JPEG, quality: 90%
Example output
logo.jpg with the transparent areas flattened to white
Practical workflow
- Drop or browse for one PNG, JPEG, or WebP image.
- Choose the target format — PNG (lossless), JPEG (smaller photos), or WebP (modern web).
- For JPEG or WebP set the quality (10–100%, default 90); compare the original and converted sizes.
- Download the result, named after the original with the new extension.
Common use cases
- Convert a WebP download to JPEG or PNG so older software can open it.
- Shrink a large PNG screenshot to a lightweight WebP for a web page.
- Turn a JPEG into PNG before editing it in a tool that needs a lossless source.
Important notes and limitations
- Conversion uses the browser's canvas and never uploads the file.
- JPEG has no transparency, so transparent areas become white. Keep PNG or WebP if you need them preserved.
- Pixel dimensions are unchanged — this tool does not resize or crop. Converting from JPEG to PNG cannot recover detail already lost to JPEG compression.
Continue your workflow
- Image Manipulation — resize, crop, or rotate before converting.
- SVG Optimizer — shrink vector graphics that should stay SVG.
Frequently asked questions
Which format should I choose?
PNG for screenshots, logos, and anything with transparency or sharp edges; JPEG for photos where universal compatibility matters; WebP for the web, where it is usually the smallest at the same visual quality.
Why did my transparent background turn white?
You converted to JPEG, which cannot store transparency. Choose PNG or WebP to keep it.
What quality setting should I use?
80–90% is a good balance for photos; 60–75% is fine for thumbnails. The converted size shown under the preview updates as you change it.
Can I convert HEIC, GIF, or SVG?
Not with this tool — it accepts PNG, JPEG, and WebP input only.
