About HTTP Request Tester
Send HTTP requests and view responses.
This network tool sends requests to the destination selected by the user. Do not submit secrets you do not intend to send.
How to use this tool
- Enter or select the api, url, http request value you want to work with.
- Review the available settings, then run the send action.
- Review the http response, api response output and use the copy or download action when the tool provides one.
What you can do with HTTP Request Tester
- Send api request
- Test rest endpoint
What this conversion does
Send GET, POST, PUT, PATCH, or DELETE requests from the browser with custom headers and a body, inspect status, timing, size, headers, and the pretty-printed response, and convert to or from a cURL command.
Example input
GET https://jsonplaceholder.typicode.com/todos/1 with header Content-Type: application/json
Example output
200 OK · 142 ms · 83 bytes · { "userId": 1, "id": 1, "title": "…", "completed": false }
Practical workflow
- Pick the method and enter the URL (http or https).
- Add header rows as needed; for non-GET methods write the request body, for example JSON.
- Send, then read the status, round-trip time, size, formatted body, and response headers.
- Copy the request as a cURL command, or paste an existing cURL command into Import cURL to fill in the method, URL, headers, and body.
Common use cases
- Smoke-test a public API or your own endpoint without installing a desktop client.
- Reproduce a bug report by importing the cURL command from documentation or a colleague.
- Check what headers and status a webhook or REST endpoint returns for a specific payload.
Important notes and limitations
- Requests are sent directly from your browser with fetch, so the target must allow cross-origin requests (CORS). Servers without CORS headers will fail here even if they work from a terminal.
- The method, URL, and body are remembered in local storage between visits; headers are not. There are no saved collections or environments — use the API Test Builder for that.
- The request goes to the URL you enter and nowhere else. Avoid pasting production credentials into shared computers.
Continue your workflow
- API Test Builder — save requests into reusable, exportable collections.
- cURL to Code — turn the cURL command into JavaScript, Python, or other languages.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my request fail in the browser but work with curl?
Almost always CORS. Browsers block cross-origin responses unless the server sends Access-Control-Allow-Origin. Test against an API that supports CORS, or run the exported cURL command from a terminal.
Can I send a JSON body?
Yes. Choose POST, PUT, or PATCH, keep the Content-Type: application/json header, and type the JSON in the body field. GET requests never send a body.
How do I add an Authorization header?
Add a header row with key Authorization and value such as Bearer <token>. The header is included in the request and in the Copy cURL output.
Does the tool store my requests?
Only the last method, URL, and body, in this browser's local storage. Nothing is sent to EasyConvert. For saved collections use the API Test Builder.
